"When he saw Saint Francis he jumped to bite him. Saint Francis stretched out his hand towards him and called him: – Brother. The wolf stopped in amazement. Until then everyone had thrown stones at him, shouting evil words. How beautiful that word of love was! Brother, do no more harm. If you are good everyone will love you. Brother wolf, promise me that you will never kill anyone again. The wolf placed his paw on the hand of the Saint and the promise was made."
