Mind-body: a system that must function not in unison but harmoniously

D. Winnicott

The body represents the first "tool" of knowledge and relationship that children use to approach and interpret the world, gradually moving from dependence to autonomy. It is always through the body that children learn to express needs, emotions, and feelings. Physical activity is therefore an essential component of child development: it is no coincidence that "the body and movement" is one of the areas of experience recommended by the national guidelines for the preschool curriculum.
