We've enrolled the older children at our school in CACTUS EDU, the free project of the Cactus Film Festival that brings the magic of cinema directly to our school! This program is aimed not only at our school but also at all Italian schools, with the aim of promoting cultural heritage and active citizenship education experiences through a program that uses audiovisual media.
The short films competing for the competition have been sent to us, and we'll be able to watch them throughout the month of February in the cinema in our school's main square, offering activities using educational materials provided by the initiative's promoters.
After the screening, the children will form a "school jury" to vote for their favorite short films, like budding critics!
The selected short films come from all over the world and are divided into different age groups.
We chose to participate in the initiative because we believe it is a great opportunity to foster critical thinking, discussion, and the sharing of opinions. We will guide children toward a gradually more mindful posture in front of screens, laying the foundation for independent and safe enjoyment of audiovisual content.
